At The Combine
Things didn't go smoothly for Michael Sam at the NFL scouting combine. His 40-yard dash time of 4.91 was deemed slow for a player his size, and the results of his other tests were less than stellar.
But when he took the microphone, Sam's answers impressed executives and the media.
"I wish you guys would ask me, 'Michael Sam, how's football going?'" he said. "I would love for you to ask me that question, but it is what it is. And I just wish you guys would see me as Michael Sam the football player instead of Michael Sam the gay football player."
When asked if he felt like a trailblazer, he replied: "I feel like I'm Michael Sam."
