NEW YORK -- Fresh off his marathon match at Wimbledon, John Isner came to Yankee Stadium for a much briefer appearance on grass -- he threw out the first pitch Tuesday night.

The lanky American was eliminated Friday, the day after he finished off a three-day slog against Nicolas Mahut, finally winning the fifth set 70-68. The match took parts of three days to finish and officially clocked in at 11 hours, 5 minutes.

Isner received a warm standing ovation from the Yankee Stadium crowd -- in contrast to the welcome plate umpire Joe West got.

In April, West criticized the Yankees and Red Sox for dragging out games after working their three-game series. The games finished in 3:46, 3:48 and 3:21 -- which is still 10 minutes shorter than Isner's match.
