However, the full name was dropped in February 1985 when the company adopted a new corporate name --- ESPN, Inc - and a new logo. Based in Bristol, CT., ESPN is 80 percent owned by ABC, Inc., which is an indirect subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company. The Hearst Corporation holds the remaining 20 percent interest in ESPN.

These companies are not subsidiaries of ESPN Radio and, once an advertisement has been removed from our site, ESPN Radio cannot offer any specific information regarding the products previously advertised. You may wish to search for more information on that product using your favorite Internet search engine.

    27) Why do I get an error now when I try to listen to a live Radio/TV Broadcast?
ESPN.com recently improved the quality of its Live Radio/TV by upgrading to a new version. In order to listen you will need the latest version of the Windows Media Player

    28) Why when I click on a live Radio/TV link do I get an "Unknown File Type Dialog?"
Make sure you have the Windows Media Player installed.

    29) Why am I receiving an old broadcast?
Your browser has probably cached the Live Radio/TV Page. Before clicking on the link to the broadcast go to the options menu, select network preferences, click the "clear memory cache now" and "clear disk cache now" buttons. Then click OK. You now need to reload the page and then click on the link to the broadcast. Also, there is sometimes a delay in the archiving of a show.

The signal sounds good for a couple of minutes but then starts to break up. What should I do?
Like a telephone line, it's possible to get a bad connection or a connection that deteriorates in quality. If you experience this, just stop and restart your Windows Media Player until you receive a better connection.

When I click on a live Radio/TV link the Windows Media Player comes up but I don't hear anything.
There could be a couple of reasons for this: The broadcast you are listening to could be in the middle of a commercial break. The radio stations leave dead air open for the local stations to place their own ads but since we don't have advertisements it remains dead air.

However, your school advisor and/or local library should be able to provide you with some information on broadcasting as a career.

If you send us your request and mailing address, we'll be glad to send you some of our talent bios - that should give you an idea of what they did to get to where they are now.
