Germany 4, Argentina 0
Germany became just the third team to score three second-half goals against Argentina in a World Cup match during its 4-0 victory in the quarterfinals. Thomas Müller scored the opener in the third minute and has been involved in seven of Germany's 13 goals (four goals, three assists). Miroslav Klose became the fourth player to record at least two goals in four separate World Cup matches, joining Ronaldo (Brazil), Just Fontaine (France) and Sandor Kocsis (Hungary).
• Germany scored four goals despite having just 47.2 percent of the total touches, the seventh-lowest percentage by a team to score at least four goals in a match since the stat was first tracked in 1966. The last time a team scored at least four goals with a lower touch percentage was Sweden (46.1) in a 4-0 victory over Bulgaria in the third-place match at the 1994 World Cup.
• Klose and Müller became the fourth set of German teammates to score in the same match three times in a single World Cup. They joined Hans Schaefer and Max Morlock (1954), Franz Beckenbauer and Helmut Haller (1966) and Gerd Müeller and Uwe Seeler (1970).
• Argentina's Martin Demichelis completed all 51 passes he attempted, the second-most by a player with 100 percent passing accuracy in a World Cup match. West Germany's Paul Breitner completed all 57 passes he attempted against Chile in a Group Stage match at the 1974 World Cup.
