Argentina 3, Mexico 1
Argentina took an early lead with Carlos Tevez's controversial headed effort before Gonzalo Higuain doubled the advantage after stealing a pass just outside Mexico's penalty area. Tevez then extended the lead to 3-0 with a long-range effort in the second half before Javier Hernandez got Mexico on the board.
• Higuain took the lead for the Golden Boot, notching his fourth goal of the tournament. He has been the most efficient player in front of the net this World Cup, scoring a goal once every 32.8 times he has touched the ball. That is the best ratio of any player who has scored at least two goals. Mexico's goal scorer, Hernandez, is second on the list -- scoring a goal once every 34.5 touches.
• Lionel Messi's goal-scoring drought in this World Cup continued. He has now attempted 27 shots without a goal, most of any player in this tournament. England's Frank Lampard (20 shots) is the only other player to attempt at least 15 shots without a goal.
