WASHINGTON -- When it comes to Edgar Castillo, the big question has never been whether the diminutive Mexico-based left back is skilled enough to start for the U.S. national team -- it's if his 5-foot-7, 145-pound frame can handle the rigors being a defender at the sport's highest level.

Sunday's friendly against mighty Germany (2 p.m. ET, ESPN2 and WatchESPN) offers coach Jurgen Klinsmann the perfect chance to find out, although whether Castillo is even in uniform for the match at RFK Stadium remains to be seen.
