It's officially crunch time for the national team's globetrotting scouting staff, which, with European seasons drawing to a close, now has just a couple of weeks left to decide who should comprise the U.S. roster for the Yanks' five upcoming matches, including next month's three pivotal World Cup qualifiers. What did they see over the past seven days?

Here's which members of the player pool are hot (and not) heading down the stretch.

Warming up

Steve Cherundolo, D, Hannover 96 (Germany)

Why he's here: The 34-year-old made his 299th Bundesliga appearance Saturday, smashing Hannover's all-time record.
What this means: With Nurnberg's Timmy Chandler injured and Geoff Cameron now relegated to a reserve role at Stoke City, Cherundolo -- who missed the Americans' first three qualifiers of 2013 while recovering from knee surgery -- is a shoo-in to reclaim his starting job with the U.S. this summer.
