Here on this morning of the 112th World Series in Major League Baseball history, it's time for me to look at the best and, well, not-so-best players on the

Chicago Cubs' and Cleveland Indians' rosters. The players below are ordered based on their potential positive impact on this World Series only, not on their regular-season or career performances to date or expected future value.

Certainly I take into account a player's recent play -- the Cubs' Javier Baez and Indians' Andrew Miller climbed these ranks for that very reason -- but these rankings have more to do with matchup-related factors, such as who they'll be facing, team strengths/weaknesses and overall potential impact. Note that LHS or LHR is left-handed starter or reliever, and RHS or RHR is righty starter or reliever.

1. Kris Bryant, 3B, Cubs
Not only is Bryant the best player in the World Series, he'll take home the NL MVP Award in November. His 40-homer power and ability to use the whole field is special, and his height and wing span allow him to have above-average range at third base.
