Meet the 2016 Little Big Leaguers

With the Little League World Series taking place this weekend, we thought it would be fun to celebrate those major leaguers with a youthful appearance. So here's a look at some notable players who have a face for little league.

Addison Russell, Chicago Cubs

Birth date: Jan. 23, 1994 (Age: 22)

Height/weight: 6 feet, 200 lbs.

Russell is well-aware of his youthful looks. He started playing baseball at a young age, and the payoff was that at 22, the shortstop became the youngest player in Cubs franchise history selected to start the All-Star Game.

Corey Seager, Los Angeles Dodgers

Birth date: April 27, 1994 (Age: 22)

Height/weight: 6 feet 4, 215 lbs.

Seager, younger brother of Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager, has made a name for himself as the leading contender for NL Rookie of the Year honors. The young shortstop's headline accomplishment this week was breaking up a no-hit bid from the Giants' Matt Moore with two outs in the ninth inning on Thursday.

Christian Yelich, Miami Marlins

Birth date: Dec. 5, 1991 (Age: 24)

Height/weight: 6 feet 4, 196 lbs.

The left fielder Yelich leads the Marlins with 76 RBIs this season. If he gets to 100, he would join Miguel Cabrera and Giancarlo Stanton as the only Marlins to drive in that many runs in a season before turning 25.

Carl Edwards, Chicago Cubs

Birth date: Sept. 3, 1991 (Age: 24)

Height/weight: 6 feet 3, 170 lbs.

Edwards said that while traveling with the Cubs he frequently gets asked whether he is 13 or 14 years old.

If you think the right-hander looks young now, check him out playing for the Spokane Indians in 2012.

Blake Snell, Tampa Bay Rays

Birth date: Dec. 4, 1992 (Age: 23)

Height/weight: 6 feet 4, 180 lbs.

Snell started playing baseball at a very young age.

He might look young, but the starter has got plenty of professional baseball experience since being drafted in the first round out of high school in 2011. Snell played for parts of six seasons in the minors before getting the call-up this season.

Wilmer Flores, New York Mets

Birth date: Aug. 6, 1991 (Age: 24)

Height/weight: 6 feet 3, 203 lbs.

The Mets signed Flores on his 16th birthday, the first day he was eligible to be signed as an international free agent, for a $750,000 signing bonus.

Flores might look young, but he played like a veteran after nearly being traded last season. The third baseman hit a game-winning home run on July 31, 2015, sparking a finish to last season in which he batted .296 in the final 44 games, helping the Mets to the World Series.

Kelby Tomlinson, San Francisco Giants

Birth date: June 16, 1990 (Age: 26)

Height/weight: 6 feet 3, 180 lbs.

Small ball is the name of the boyish-looking Tomlinson's game. The second baseman has not hit more than two home runs in a season for any particular team at any level since starting his career in the minors in 2011.

Sonny Gray, Oakland Athletics
Birth date: Nov. 7, 1989 (Age: 26)

Height/weight: 5 feet 10, 190 lbs.

Gray has maintained his youthful looks despite a season with a lot of on-field stress: a 5.74 ERA in 21 starts. He had a 2.91 ERA in 2014 and 2015, which ranked 13th best among the 107 pitchers with at least 250 innings pitched in that span.

Matt Bowman, St. Louis Cardinals

Birth date: May 31, 1991 (Age: 25)

Height/weight: 6 feet, 165 lbs.

Bowman graduated from Princeton with a degree in economics and wrote a thesis on sabermetrics. He made it to the majors this season after being selected in the Rule 5 Draft from the Mets. After a sluggish start, he posted a 2.83 ERA in his next 33 appearances.

Zach Davies, Milwaukee Brewers

Birth date: Feb. 7, 1993 (Age: 23)

Height/weight: 6 feet, 165 lbs.

Asked about people frequently commenting on his size and youthful appearance, Davies told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel: "I kind of take it as a chip on my shoulder, because people are in disbelief. It's like it's a fluke. But at the same time I know I've had success in the past, and as long as I keep working and as long as I keep doing the things that are beneficial to my career, it'll continue."

Tyrell Jenkins, Atlanta Braves

Birth date: July 20, 1992 (Age: 24)

Height/weight: 6 feet 4, 180 lbs.

Jenkins, who was raised in Texas, was more focused on football than on baseball until after high school.

He still looks like a pitcher who could use more experience at a lower level, and the stats back that up, as he's recorded a 2.91 ERA at Triple-A and a 6.20 ERA in the majors.

Patrick Corbin, Arizona Diamondbacks

Birth date: July 19, 1989 (Age: 27)

Height/weight: 6 feet 3, 210 lbs.

Corbin made the All-Star team in just his second big league season back in 2013 when he broke out during his age-23 season by going 14-8 with a 3.41 ERA. Byung-Hyun Kim is the only other pitcher in D-backs franchise history to make an All-Star team at such a young age.

Trea Turner, Washington Nationals

Birth date: June 30, 1993 (Age: 23)

Height/weight: 6 feet 1, 185 lbs.

Judging from this early Halloween photo, Turner has been practicing for his major league debut from a very early age.

Don't let looks deceive you; the second baseman could be one of the fastest players in the majors. He had 15 steals and six triples in his first 38 games of this season.

Tyler Duffey, Minnesota Twins

Birth date: Dec. 27, 1990 (Age: 25)

Height/weight: 6 feet 3, 222 lbs.

Duffey went 5-1 with a 3.10 ERA last year, but his ERA has doubled in his second season. The youngster sports a 6.24 ERA that's worst among all pitchers to make at least 20 starts this year.

Dan McCarthy, Mark Simon, Michael Schwartz, Zachary Singer, Sarah Langs and Sarah Goldstein contributed to this post.
