• Tight end Jeff Heuerman (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier) was an excellent pickup for Ohio State. The 6-foot-5, 225-pounder caught our eye at the Badger Sport Elite 7-on-7 last month in Tampa. He's got a great frame, good hands and is athletic. With some development, he will be a big contributor in Columbus.• Ohio State has always recruited Florida fairly well and this recruiting cycle is no exception. The Buckeyes landed ESPNU 150 Watch List safety Jeremy Cash (Plantation, Fla./Plantation) recently and are in on a number of other Sunshine State prospects.• Defensive lineman Marquis Wright (Paramus, N.J./Paramus Catholic) told ESPN affiliate NittanyNetwork.com that Penn State currently held the lead for his services. During a visit with Wright at his school two weeks ago, we came away with the same feeling. In fact, it would surprise us at this point if he ended up anywhere but State College. That being said, Wright did express a strong interest in visiting Miami, Florida State and other programs in the Southeast this summer, so a decision may not come as quickly as you would think.• Watch out for defensive lineman Sam Harvill (Springdale, Ark./Shiloh Christian), who committed to Kansas State on Monday. The 6-0, 252-pounder is one of the strongest players in the country -- he bench pressed 185 pounds a whopping 59 times at the National Under Armour Combine on Jan. 1 at ESPN's Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. • Look for athlete Shamir Jeffery (Saint Matthews, S.C./Calhoun County) to possibly commit to Kentucky in the coming weeks. Jeffery, the younger brother of South Carolina receiver Alshon Jeffery, wants to play quarterback in college and he and his coaches believe that the Wildcats afford him the best opportunity to do so.Kentucky also has offered athlete Brandon Thomas from the school and Thomas is expected to be part of the package deal. • Safety Patrick Martin (Greenville, S.C./J.L. Mann) added Tennessee to his offer list, which includes LSU, Arkansas, Minnesota, Mississippi State and others, late last week. He attended the Atlanta Under Armour Combine on Sunday and impressed.• Ole Miss offered cornerback Andrew Johnson (Miami/Southridge) over the weekend, joining Texas Tech and others. Johnson should see his offer list continue to grow during the spring and summer.• Alabama offered linebacker Vinnie Sunseri (Tuscaloosa, Ala./Northridge) on Monday. Sunseri is the son of Tide assistant coach Sal Sunseri and the 5-11, 202-pounder is an excellent prospect. He had 107 tackles and five interceptions last season at Marvin Ridge High School in Waxhaw, N.C., and ran a 4.56 40-yard dash at the National Under Armour Combine. Sunseri's brother, Tino Sunseri, is a quarterback at Pitt.
