On Tuesday, Pittsburgh coach Todd Graham held his weekly press conference with the local media. Not surprisingly, a number of questions were regarding Pitt's decision to move to the ACC.Pitt has traditionally focused on its own backyard in Western Pennsylvania and the rest of the state and neighbors New Jersey and Ohio when it comes to recruiting. Joining the ACC means Pitt could play in north and south Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Maryland in any given year. With the exception of south Florida and Maryland, Pitt has no players on its roster or commitments from any of those remaining states.Graham spoke about dipping into those states to pick up commits during his press conference."I think it's very difficult to recruit a place you don't play. Playing in the ACC will allow us to be in a pretty extensive area as far as great recruits and great talent level. It will allow us, for example, to go into a place like Georgia and recruit. If you don't play there then it's a little tougher to recruit. Our focus will still be winning and getting the best and brightest from Western Pennsylvania. The ACC will open some doors down the East Coast and naturally we're already recruiting Florida, [the] South and Southeast. Perception is reality and the perception is that this is a big-time move up for us. When recruiting kids it will prove to be very impressionable to be a part of this conference."I think the Big East is a lot better than what people think it is as far as the competition part of it. Pitt will be very competitive in the ACC. I am excited about the move because I think it opens more doors in recruiting and it increases our national exposure. We are going to build a championship program. There is no doubt we have the resources and the commitment to do that. I expect us to be extremely competitive within the ACC."
