George Bradley earned himself the nickname Bam early. No, it's not because the three-star Trotwood-Madison (Ohio) safety consistently delivers blows to opposing running backs and receivers, though he does do that with regular consistency. No, Bam Bradley received the nickname from his aunt when he was just a little child because he always managed to find a way to get into trouble, much like Bamm-Bamm Rubble, the famous "Flintstones" cartoon character."That's been my name since I was born," Bradley said. "My auntie gave me that name because I used to be real bad. She used to say quit acting like Bamm-Bamm."What did Bam to warrant his aunt's admonishment? Let's just say it was justified."Breaking down my playpen, throwing apples at cars, throwing chairs in the road when cars were coming," were the first things to pop into Bradley's head when asked about the mischief he used to get into.Since his troublemaking days as a young child, Bradley has turned himself into one of Trotwood-Madison's best athletes and brightest students. "He's playing strong safety, playing a little bit of everywhere for us," Trotwood-Madison coach Maurice Douglass said. "He has offers from just about 33 or 34 schools. He's a big-time hitter, plays down in the box, and he has a 3.98 GPA. He's a bright kid and a tremendous athlete."Bradley has scholarship offers from a host of schools, including Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee, Northwestern, Stanford and Vanderbilt. The offer from Stanford was one of the most meaningful scholarship offers Bradley has received."To me it means what I've been doing has paid off," he said. "It's not like I've been doing stuff in the class just because or the field just because."Any college is great, but when you have arguably the No. 1 [non-Ivy League] education and are among the top 10 teams in the country, it's humbling to know what I'm doing is paying off."Bradley will be officially visiting Stanford for its game against UCLA on Oct. 1.The weekend of Sept. 9-11, Bradley was in State College visiting Penn State for its intersectional showdown with Alabama. Nittany Lions safety coach Kermit Buggs showed Bradley around for the most part, and safety Stephen Obeng-Agyapong hosted him."It was a real nice trip," said Bradley, who was amazed at the atmosphere inside Beaver Stadium. "Penn State is a great traditional school outside of Joe Paterno. I got a chance to sit down and talk with Joe Paterno, and that was just a moment for me to be like look at how legendary he is."And he knew everything about me, where I fit in, how important I am to him. That was mind blowing in itself that someone that legendary and that well known and has had that much success is interested in me."This upcoming weekend, Bradley will officially visit Pittsburgh, where his brother Nicholas Grigsby is a freshman linebacker. Bradley, who doesn't have any other officials lined up outside of Pittsburgh and Stanford, said the Panthers will "be there 'til the end" of his recruitment.Bradley says he is still wide open and said Pittsburgh, Stanford, Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan State, Vanderbilt and Arizona are some of the schools he likes the best off the top of his head. When it comes down to finally making a decision, Bradley says academics will be one of the most important factors."It's one of the main things that's kept my decision pushed back," he said. "If it was just strictly football, it would be easy. I'd just think, 'OK this team would give me my best chance to play freshman year.'"I gotta do what's best for me 20 to 30 years down the road and what degree [to pursue], and that's what is making me take my time and figure out what the best school is academically and what it can do for me in the long run as for connections and alumni."Education has always been stressed to me since I started preschool. My mom graduated high school when she was 16. Education was always stressed, I had no choice."
