It didn't take long for Notre Dame to ease any concerns about how its 1-2 start would affect recruiting for its 2012 class and beyond. It'd be tough to imagine the Fighting Irish having a better weekend as far as recruiting goes, securing commitments for two separate classes. On Sunday, three-star Hanahan, S.C., wide receiver
Chris Brown committed to the Irish after visiting for Saturday's win against Michigan State. Brown was a Notre Dame lean and the visit cemented him on the Irish. Before Notre Dame's win on Saturday, offensive lineman
Steve Elmer, one of the top juniors in Michigan, also committed to the Irish.Plus, four-star Austintown-Fitch (Ohio) running back
William Mahone thoroughly enjoyed his visit in South Bend, liking it so much he plans on going back on his own dime for an unofficial visit Oct. 22 for the Irish's annual rivalry game against USC. It seems like a school would really have to make an impression on Mahone to steal him from the Irish at this point. However, with the exception of Mahone, things on the recruiting front might get a little quiet for the Irish between now and the October date with the Trojans, but don't take it as a bad sign. There aren't any marquee games on the Irish's schedule between now and Oct. 22, so there won't be an influx of uncommitted recruits on campus over the next few weekends. The few days leading up to and following the USC game could be huge for the Irish, though.
