McDowell (Erie, Pa.) athlete Greg Garmon hasn't played much through the first two games, after suffering from cramps in the opener and missing the first half last week after violating a team rule, but he expects a big day Friday against Seneca Valley. How big? He says it will be bigger than his game last year when he ran for 198 yards."Whatever the defense is, I'm going to kill it," Garmon said.Garmon lines up at running back and cornerback for McDowell, and through two games he's rushed for 127 yards and made an impact on defense and special teams. Offensively and defensively, Garmon is still getting used to the players around him as McDowell has to replace a number of starters on both sides of the ball.As far as his recruitment goes, Garmon isn't making a decision any time soon and will take all five visits. Garmon has set up dates for visits to Iowa and Ohio State, and Illinois, Michigan and Texas A&M will all more than likely get the final three.Iowa has successfully mined the Eria, Pa., area under coach Kirk Ferentz, and he hopes to dip into the Great Lakes area once again to pluck another prized recruit in Garmon. Garmon visited Iowa this summer and will officially visit the weekend of Oct. 15 for its game against Northwestern."I have no clue," Garmon said when asked why Iowa is one of the fan favorites in Erie. "I think it's because of Bob Sanders, he set the trend for everybody since he's a Pro Bowler and Super Bowl winner and in the NFL. Iowa's been big around here."... I like [Iowa's] facilities and their connections in the area. I like everything about Iowa, and Iowa City is a nice campus town."Two teams that appear to have come from the back of the pack to jump toward the front half of Garmon's leader board are Ohio State and Texas A&M.The Buckeyes offered Garmon at their camp during the summer and have stayed in contact with him ever since. The Buckeyes, the only one in the top five recruiting Garmon at corner, will receive an official visit Oct. 1 for their game against Michigan State."It's close to home, and the best players in the country go to Ohio State," says Garmon, who does like offense better than defense. He isn't worried about the possibility of NCAA sanctions and believes interim coach Luke Fickell isn't going anywhere."Coach Fickell will be there for years," he said.Texas A&M will call Garmon in the next few days about which weekend he should officially visit. The Aggies are still playing the waiting game regarding their entrance into the SEC, but the likelihood the Aggies will shift conferences has Garmon excited."Me coming from a small town, when a big school offers, everyone goes to Iowa," he says. "I'd like to go to a school that's in the SEC."
