Pickerington North offensive lineman
Luke Carothers is still waiting on his first Football Bowl Subdivision offer, but if he plays like he did Friday night, that offer might come sooner rather than later.Though North was playing an outmanned team, Carothers was instrumental in setting up a number of touchdowns. On North's opening touchdown, it ran a screen pass behind Carothers, who was one on one with the last defender before the end zone."My eyes got 1,000 miles wide," Carothers said. "I saw him and there was nowhere he could go. He put his head down and I just blasted him."Carothers' nasty streak was on display against Northland, punishing opposing linemen before consistently working his way to the second level for another block to spring the running backs."My older brother always beat me up when I was a little kid," Carothers said, "so I got taught real quick that you don't have to be the biggest just the meanest."Notre Dame College in Ohio and Butler are the only schools to offer Carothers as of now. Notre Dame College is a Division II school, and Butler plays in the Football Championship Subdivision. He is starting to earn interest from some MAC schools, most notably Ball State and Miami (Ohio). He said he's also received mail from Indiana, West Virginia and NC State recently."I'm hoping to get a big (offer) here soon," he said.Carothers' entire family is from Arkansas, so his dream is to play for a school down there.
