Cincinnati Colerain junior standout running back
Chris Davis will miss the remainder of the season with a major knee injury. MRI results showed that Davis, who hurt the knee in Friday's win against Ryle (Ky.), tore every major ligament in his knee. Davis' ACL, MCL and PCL will all have to be repaired during surgery, which will likely come in two weeks when the swelling goes down."He tore it up pretty good," Colerain coach Tom Bolden said Thursday. "It's the same injury Willis McGahee suffered when he was at Miami."McGahee suffered a devastating knee injury in the BCS title game in January 2003 when a helmet hit him directly in the side of his knee. Davis was cutting and falling forward when a Ryle defender hit him, dislocating the knee. Bolden called it "one of those freak things."Bolden said Davis is taking the injury well, and that the coach is more upset about the injury than Davis is."He's matured so much as a young man, so for that to happen to him is not fair," Bolden said.Barring any setbacks, Davis will be ready for preseason camp next summer and 100 percent for the season opener. Bolden said the doctors estimate a nine-to-10 month timetable for Davis' recovery."He already said, 'Coach, I'm going to come back bigger, faster and stronger,'" Bolden said.Davis is one of the top juniors in the Midwest and was already receiving interest from college football elites Florida, Michigan, Ohio State and Oregon.
