• Darryl Render commits to Pitt

Three-star Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward defensive end Darryl Render has verbally committed to Pittsburgh, he confirmed in a text message to ESPN.com."Yea, I committed to Pitt," he said.Pittsburgh now has 13 commitments for its 2012 class, and its second commitment along the defensive line. Three-star tackle Myles Hilliard of Bedford, Ohio, is also on board.The Panthers are switching to a 3-4 defense and will have only two players listed as ends on next year's team. They do have a couple lighter and undersized defensive tackles that fit the 3-4 defensive end mold well. Render is listed at 6-foot-3 and 250 pounds.Render earlier told ESPN.com he was looking hard at Pittsburgh along with Iowa, Cincinnati, Louisville and Vanderbilt. He unofficially visited the last three schools the weekend of Aug. 12-14. Render unofficially visited Pitt earlier this summer.Saint Edward kicks off its season against Glenville (Cleveland) at 7 p.m. Saturday at Browns Stadium.
