A summer spent on the mend, quarterback
Seth Rosenbauer was hurting. Rehabbing from torn labrum surgery, he couldn't do much physically. He was hurting emotionally, too, though. Unable to throw or attend any summer camps or 7-on-7 tournaments, the three-star prospect from Lima (Ohio) Shawnee, didn't receive a single offer from any Division I schools over the summer."That hurt me a lot," Rosenbauer said. "They never saw me in camps. They only saw my junior film."During the middle of his junior season, Rosenbauer injured his right (throwing) shoulder. After missing a game, he returned to the lineup and finished out the season. He immediately went on to his school's basketball season and played the first few games before realizing he couldn't play with the pain anymore. After an MRI revealed the tear, he was operated on in January and is now back to 100 percent.A handful of MAC schools and a pair of Ivy League schools have been recruiting Rosenbauer, but they're all waiting to see how he performs during his senior season before offering.Rosenbauer said he's feeling great and will even play on both sides of the ball this season, doubling as one of Shawnee's starting outside linebackers. He only did that once last season."That was probably the most fun game I've ever played. ... I love playing defense," he said.Brown is even looking at the possibility of recruiting Rosenbauer as a linebacker. However, some of the MAC schools see Rosenbauer's imposing physical stature -- 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds -- and see a dynamic H-back, a position he's never played before."I never played tight end before, but my high school coaches have talked to some college coaches and told them I have good hands," said Rosenbauer. "I've played some scout wide receiver."In-state schools Bowling Green, Ohio, Toledo, Kent State and Ball State, as well as Columbia and Brown, will all be keeping an eye on Rosenbauer this fall to see if he's regained his pre-injury form. For now, Rosenbauer is focused on his senior season and not impressing college scouts."I just want to really just help my team and do everything I can," he said, "and whatever happens, happens."
