Mel Kiper Jr.'s mock draft has Seahawks taking Wisconsin OT Ryan Ramczyk

Mel Kiper Jr. released his latest mock draft on ESPN Insider Wednesday, and he has the Seattle Seahawks landing some offensive line help in the first round.

Kiper projects Wisconsin left tackle Ryan Ramczyk going to the Seahawks with the 26th overall pick.

Offensive tackle is clearly an area of need. George Fant took over as a starter last season and struggled (understandably so, considering he hadn't played football since the eighth grade). Seahawks coaches like Fant and believe he can develop into a quality starter, but that's obviously far from a guarantee.

At right tackle, Garry Gilliam is a restricted free agent. The Seahawks drafted Germain Ifedi in the first round last year. They initially projected him at right tackle but then moved him to guard, and coach Pete Carroll said after the season that the team's preference is for Ifedi to stay inside.

Ramczyk (6-foot-6, 314 pounds) played just one year at a Division I school. He took a year off (2012) after high school and then attended Wisconsin-Stevens Point (Division III) in 2013 and 2014. Ramczyk sat out in 2015 before joining the Badgers. He was named a first-team All-American by the Associated Press in 2016.

Ramczyk injured his hip in January and had surgery, so he is not expected to participate in any of the athletic testing at the combine.

For the Seahawks, that will make Ramczyk's pro day and potential private workout even more important.
