Brandon Flowers and Jahleel Addae out, Travis Benjamin questionable for Chargers

SAN DIEGO -- San Diego Chargers head coach Mike McCoy will likely have all of his playmakers on offense available when his team hits the road to play the Atlanta Falcons.

After two days practicing as a limited participant with a knee issue, receiver Travis Benjamin is listed as questionable for Sunday. San Diego’s leading receiver, Benjamin was a limited participant Friday, but McCoy said he’s hopeful the speedy receiver will play Sunday.

However, the Chargers will face the league’s top-ranked offense in the Falcons without starting cornerback Brandon Flowers and strong safety Jahleel Addae.

Flowers has been ruled out for a fourth straight week due to lingering concussion issues, while Addae will miss a fifth game in a row as he recovers from a broken clavicle.

Outside linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu also has been ruled out after missing practice this week with an ankle injury.

Flowers has suffered three reported concussions during his time with the Chargers and wants to make sure he’s fully recovered before taking the field. Flowers said he’ll go through more concussion-related testing Saturday.

“You have to be careful with your brain,” Flowers said. “This isn’t a shoulder injury where you can just muscle your way through. You might feel like you can possibly go now, but you don’t want to get hit again, have another one and it could possibly affect you long term.

“It’s very frustrating. My thing was, don’t miss any games this year. That’s why I got my body the way I did, and I made sure not to have any knee or hamstring issues, and I end up going down off a friendly fire hit like the last drive of the game. So having to sit out this long is definitely frustrating.”
