Dayne Hammond (Youngstown, Ohio/Boardman) is a junior to watch in Ohio. The 6-foot-6, 175-pound athlete has three scholarship offers with several other schools in hot pursuit. "Toledo, Ball State and Youngstown State have offered me a scholarship," said Hammond. "I've been invited to some junior days coming up but I don't know which ones I'm going to attend. I'm getting mail from a lot of schools but the schools that seem the most interested in me and that are writing hand-written letters are Oregon, Wisconsin, Penn State, Ohio State, USC, UCLA, Florida, South Florida and Central Florida. I don't have any favorites at all."Hammond has been on the varsity since his freshman year. In 2010, he had 57 receptions for 870 yards. On the defensive side of the ball, Hammond had 72 tackles and 6 sacks.
Gregory set for Iowa's junior dayOne of the top junior prospects in Illinois is
Robert Gregory (Chicago, Ill./Simeon). The 6-3, 180-pound dual-threat quarterback will be a four-year varsity starter in 2011 and helped the Wolverines to a 10-1 record this past season."I'm still waiting on my first scholarship offer." Gregory said. "I plan on going to Iowa's junior day this Sunday but really don't have anything planned after that. I'm getting a lot of mail and I'm starting to sort through everything. I'm a dual-threat quarterback so I'm looking at the offenses that schools run.Gregory is most interested in Northwestern, Notre Dame, Michigan, Oregon, TCU, Ohio State, North Carolina, Iowa, North Carolina, Purdue, Colorado, Arizona and Kansas. However, he hasn't received any mail from Ohio State or North Carolina yet."I feel that my game really fits at Oregon and Ohio State so hopefully I hear from Ohio State soon. I'm looking for a school that wants an athletic quarterback."In 2010, Gregory had 1,607 passing yards and 32 touchdowns. He rushed for 919 yards and 18 touchdowns.
Reed up to two offersA couple of MAC schools like what they see in defensive back
Jonathan Reed (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike). Toledo and Bowling Green have already offered the 5-10, 170-pound junior cornerback."I've started to set up my junior day visits," Reed said. "I'm going to Iowa, Cincinnati, Purdue, Notre Dame and Missouri so far. I don't have any favorites right now. The schools that are showing the most interest in me right now are Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Iowa, Missouri, Purdue, Louisville, Cincinnati, Vanderbilt and Kentucky."Reed is going to be a three-year varsity starter in 2011. He had 67 tackles, 15 pass breakups and an interception this past season.
Anvoots drawing interestSid Anvoots (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) could be the next offensive lineman from his school to play FBS football. The Trojans have Zach Martin at Notre Dame, his brother Nick, just verbally committed to Notre Dame and now all eyes are on Anvoots. The 6-4, 275-pound junior started every game this past season. "I don't have any scholarship offers right now," Anvoots said. "I've been lucky enough to have a lot of coaches come through our school the past two years looking at Zach and
Nick Martin. Coach Lorenzano does a good job at helping all of his players with recruiting. If we have a major recruit this year like we had in Nick Martin, Coach Lorenzano makes sure that he talks about other guys on our team. I plan on going to a lot of junior days the next few months. "Northern Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Penn State, Indiana, Akron and Bowling Green are the schools I'm hearing from the most right now."
