Junior
William Mahone (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) attended the Under Armour combine in Orlando, Fla. last week and the 5-foot-11, 205-pound running back was recognized as one of the top prospects at his position."I have scholarship offers from Cincinnati and Bowling Green," Mahone said. "I have visited both those schools already. I want to visit Penn State, Michigan State, Oregon and any other school that offers me or recruits me."Mahone will be a three-year varsity starter in 2011. He rushed for 699 yards and had 11 receptions for 152 yards. He was also a starter on the defensive side of the ball and was named first-team defense Northeast Ohio."There have been a lot of schools sending me hand-written mail," Mahone said. "My favorites right now are Cincinnati, Michigan, Michigan State, Bowling Green, Oregon, Boston College, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Alabama and Tennessee."
Fahey invited to Northwestern practiceA junior prospect that put himself on the recruiting radar in 2010 was linebacker Tyler Fahey (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South). He missed the first two games of the season because of an injury and during his absence, his team went 0-2. When he returned, Maine South ran the table and captured a state championship."I don't have a scholarship offer yet but there are a lot of schools that have been sending hand-written mail." Fahey said. "Bowling Green and Northwestern just called and asked me to come watch a spring practice."The all-state selection finished the season with 88 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, three forced fumbles and three interceptions."I'm open and willing to talk to any school that's interested in me," said the 6-2, 210-pounder. "I'm hearing from schools from every major conference including Notre Dame. I'll be taking some unofficial visits in the next few months but nothing is set in stone yet."
Godin hearing from all Big Ten schoolsDefensive tackle Matt Godin (Novi, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central) is one of Michigan's top junior prospects. The 6-5, 255-pounder has a couple of scholarship offers under his belt and several schools have been in contact."Buffalo and Duke have offered so far," Godin said. "I'm hearing from every school in the Big Ten as well as schools in other conferences. I plan on visiting Michigan State and Nebraska for junior days very soon."The schools that I'm most interested in right now are Michigan, Michigan State, Duke, Northwestern, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Miami (Fla.), Buffalo, Indiana and Syracuse. These are the schools I hear from the most and send hand-written mail."Godin split time on the varsity as a sophomore and started every game this past season. He finished last season with 66 tackles, 28 tackles for loss and three sacks.
Madaris up to two offersA prospect that I had the pleasure of watching this past season was wide receiver
Monty Madaris (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller). Boston College does a great job of recruiting Cincinnati and the Eagles have already offered Madaris a scholarship."Boston College and Cincinnati are the schools that have offered me right now." Madaris said. "I don't know if I'll be getting out on any visits anytime soon. Right now I'm concentrating on my school work and getting ready for spring and summer workouts."Madaris will be a three-year varsity starter in 2011. This past season he had 719 yards receiving and 270 yards rushing with 10 total touchdowns."My favorites right now are Ohio State, Cincinnati, Florida State, Michigan, Michigan State, Boston College, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Alabama and Iowa." Madaris said.
