Marcus Horne (Milwaukee, Wis./Bradley Tech) is one of the top junior prospects in the Badger State. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound running back rushed for 1,384 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2010. He averaged 9.5 yards per carry and scored 13 touchdowns as a sophomore. "Right now I have an offer from North Dakota State," Horne said. "I'm hoping that's going to change soon. I'm hearing from a lot of schools right now. I've received hand-written mail from Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Indiana, Northwestern and LSU. I'm open right now. I want to see what happens when I go to some camps and combines." Horne is looking at schools that are strong academically. He carries a 3.8 GPA in the classroom. "Northwestern, Stanford, Cal, Northwestern and Vanderbilt are the types of programs I want to take a closer look at."
Bales drawing interestA junior prospect to watch will be
Alex Bales (Kansas City, Mo./Rockhurst). The 6-3, 200-pound defensive back helped lead the Hawklets to a state title this season and was named second team all-state. "I'm playing basketball right now but football is my first love," Bales said. "Northwestern and Iowa have been in touch with me the most and I'm looking forward to visiting both those schools soon. I'm going to a lot of camps this summer. A lot of schools are going to have to figure out which position will be best for me in their system. I led our team in tackles and receptions. Some schools are saying wide receiver or tight end, while others are telling me safety or linebacker. I don't have any favorites. I'm getting a lot of mail but I feel it's too early to name favorites."
Chris Wormley (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer) is one of the top defensive line prospects in the Buckeye State. The 6-4, 255-pound junior already has several FBS level scholarship offers. "Cincinnati, Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, Illinois and Ohio State have all offered me a scholarship," Wormley said. "My favorites right now are Michigan, Ohio State, Iowa, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Oregon and Alabama. Those aren't in any order, but those are the schools I'm most interested in visiting or maybe camping at. I haven't thought about when I might make a commitment. I think I want to wait and see what happens after the spring evaluation period." Wormley had 81 tackles and 12 sacks in 2010.
