Faith Ekakitie (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest Academy) is only a junior, but several schools have offered."I've been home for a couple of weeks and won't be back at LFA (Lake Forest Academy) until Jan. 3," said the 6-foot-2, 265-pound defensive tackle. "Northwestern, Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Stanford, Boston College, Eastern Michigan and Illinois State have all offered. It's funny that when Illinois offered me and they were my first offer, I told my dad and he couldn't understand why I didn't commit right away. My parents were just focused on getting my college paid for. I had to tell them I wanted to see if I would get other scholarship offers and now that I have more offers, they understand why I didn't commit right away."I really don't know who my favorites would be right now. I've only visited Wisconsin and Illinois. I plan on visiting Notre Dame and Illinois in January. Ohio State, Michigan State and Purdue are other schools that I'm really interested in hearing from." In seven games this year, Ekakitie had 14 tackles for loss and 12 sacks.Jackson names favoritesIt must seem like Groundhog Day for the coaching staffs at Iowa and Wisconsin. This year, both schools recruited and offered athlete Melvin Gordon (Kenosha, Wis./Bradford) who at one time was an Iowa verbal commitment before switching to the Badgers. Both programs will go at it again for another Bradford High School athlete.Vonte Jackson, a 6-0, 175-pound junior holds scholarship offers from Iowa and Wisconsin with others sending steady mail. "I'm completely wide open," said Jackson. "I learned a lot about the recruiting process watching Melvin go through it all. I'm going to take my time. I have the offers from Iowa and Wisconsin but I'm really interested in Ohio State and other programs. Wisconsin and Ohio State would be my top two right now." Jackson rushed for 956 yards on 68 carries and also had 280 receiving yards. He scored 13 total touchdowns.Dieter drawing interestSouth Bend (Ind.) Washington already has one junior prospect that received a scholarship offer in athlete David Perkins. The Panthers now have another junior with a scholarship offer in wide receiver Gehrig Dieter. The 6-3, 210-pounder is hoping that he and Perkins can help Washington improve on its 7-4 record this past season. "We had a good year but we think we can do better next season with our senior leadership," Dieter said. "I've started on the varsity since my freshman year. I have a scholarship offer from Bowling Green and my favorites are Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oregon, Michigan State and Bowling Green."
