Sean Cotton (Melrose Park, Ill./Walther Lutheran) originally gave Northwestern his verbal commitment last summer but the two parties had to part ways when Cotton didn't qualify academically. That opened up the recruitment for the 6-2, 195-pound safety. "I haven't narrowed anything down yet," Cotton said. "I'm trying to keep my options as open as possible right now. Purdue, Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Indiana and Minnesota have been showing the most interest. Hopefully I'll take my official visits in January and then I can make a decision."
Roberts keeping options openJackson Roberts (Webster Groves, Mo./Webster Groves) received several postseason honors and although things were slow for the 6-foot-7, 290-pound tackle at the beginning of the season, several schools are coming in and making a pitch to land the big man. "Akron, Tennessee-Martin and Southern Illinois have all offered me a scholarship," Roberts said. "I'm talking to Bowling Green, Buffalo and Richmond on a weekly basis and I could be taking some trips in January. Right now I'm just waiting things out."
Perkins names favoritesDavid Perkins (South Bend, Ind./Washington) was a regular on the combine circuit last summer. A summer transfer from a school in Kalamazoo, Mich., to Washington High School in South Bend, Ind., didn't slow down the 6-2, 190-pound junior. Perkins is a fine receiver but he's also been spectacular on the defensive side of the ball as well. "I have offers from Toledo, Ohio University and Bowling Green." Perkins said. "Alabama, Iowa, Notre Dame and Ball State are all sending regular hand-written mail. I'm really doing my homework right now. I'm in touch with coaches from almost everywhere. My favorites are Oregon, Michigan, Syracuse, Penn State, Alabama, Michigan State and Iowa."
Conlon pushes back Western Michigan visitSleeper offensive tackle
Aidian Conlon (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) was supposed to make an official visit to Western Michigan last weekend. The 6-4, 290-pounder holds an offer from the Broncos and a new suitor just entered the picture. "Fordham is my latest scholarship offer," said Conlon. "Western Michigan pushed my visit back until the middle of January. The coaches wanted me to be on campus when the students got back from Christmas break. Indiana State is another school that has offered a scholarship. I'm not ready to make a commitment, I'm hoping more offers will come in."
