Washington, a 6-foot-5, 250-pound defensive end, finished his season with 151 tackles and an eye popping 19 sacks. "I just recently received scholarship offers from Alabama, Texas and Texas A&M," Washington said. "That was pretty exciting for me. I have offers from some of the top schools and football programs in the country. I'm definitely going to take my time and check out all of my options. The schools that I have the most interest in checking out are Ohio State, Alabama, Oregon, Kentucky, Notre Dame, Florida, Michigan State, USC, UCLA and Cincinnati."• DB
De'Van Bogard (Cleveland, Ohio/Glenville), 5-11 and 175 pounds, had 52 tackles and 3 forced fumbles on the year. "I don't know if I have any scholarship offers right now," Bogard said. "My coach [Ted Ginn] has all of that information and he handles all the recruiting stuff. I can say that the schools that I'd like to check out right now are Ohio State, USC, Northwestern, Penn State, Michigan State, Indiana, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, California and Iowa."•
Dan Voltz (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) checks in with four scholarship offers. "I have offers from Northwestern, Illinois, Wisconsin and Arizona," said the 6-5, 290-pound offensive lineman. "I was named all-state, all-area and all-conference. I don't have a favorite or anything like that right now but an early wish list would be Northwestern, Illinois, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Oregon, Iowa, Stanford, Arizona, Ohio State and Tennessee. These are the schools that I'm interested in hearing from and checking out."• In 1983, Addison (Ill.) Trail had one of the best football teams in the state. That team is still highly regarded and arguably one of the 10 best football teams ever in the Land of Lincoln. A big reason for the Blazers' success that year was athlete Dan Vitale and now, Vitale's son, Danny, is making a name for himself with the defending state champion and current No. 1 ranked Wheaton-Warrenville South Tigers. "Danny is going to be our best player next year," said Wheaton-Warrenville coach Ron Muhitch. "He's extremely fast and physical. I could see Danny being a fullback, super back, slot wide receiver or even a linebacker or defensive back at the next level. We have timed him in the 40 at 4.4 or 4.5 depending on the day."
