Several dominos fell when
Bubba Starling (Gardner, Kan./Gardner-Edgerton) gave Nebraska his verbal commitment. One of those dominoes was
Reilly O'Toole (Wheaton, Ill./Warrenville South). O'Toole had scholarship offers from Nebraska, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Northwestern and ended up choosing Illinois after Starling chose Nebraska."I was really interested in Nebraska," said the 6-foot-3, 220-pounder. "Nebraska had offered me a scholarship and I loved their facilities. Wisconsin and Northwestern also had offered but in the end it ended up that Illinois was the best place for me and I'm happy with my decision."Illinois is also the big winner in this deal. O'Toole is leading the state's No. 1 ranked team to what looks like to be another state championship. The Tigers are a perennial powerhouse in Illinois but this could be their best team ever and O'Toole is their field general.Wheaton-Warrenville South averages 43.6 points per game while only giving up 6.2 points to the opposition. O'Toole is nearing the 3,000 yard passing mark and he's thrown 36 touchdown passes while only throwing one interception.All-Star games across the country are picking their teams earlier and earlier nowadays, but O'Toole is deserving of this honor. Reilly O'Toole should win every player of the year award in Illinois. If he doesn't, that would be the biggest upset of the year.Another prospect having a big season for Wheaton-Warrenville South is wide receiver Titus Davis. "I struggled a bit in my junior year," said the 6-2, 180-pounder. "The coaches even thought my confidence wasn't where it needed to be but this year it has totally clicked."I know in recruiting that you need to have a big junior year and put together a great highlight tape in order to get those early scholarship offers but I feel that I've done well this year and I'm hoping that there are schools out there that have scholarships left."It looks like Davis is getting his wish. One of the schools that still have a scholarship to offer is the University of Toledo. The Rockets were in Dekalb, Ill., Tuesday to play a nationally televised game with Northern Illinois and while in town they offered a scholarship."Toledo really liked my game film and before they offered me a scholarship after they had met with my coach (Ron Muhitch)," Davis said. "I'm excited about my offer and I'm talking to other schools. I'd really like to play for either Iowa or Illinois so hopefully something happens there."
