Now that his season is over, Jimmy Kristof (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) has turned his attention to recruiting. "I'm very proud of the season we had," said the 6-foot-4, 290-pound offensive guard. "We lost (in the playoffs) on Saturday but nobody ever gave up. We fought hard until the final whistle. Now I'm looking forward to playing college football. I have a scholarship offer from Akron and there are a lot of schools still calling and sending mail. Hopefully I can pick up a few more offers soon. The schools that are still contacting me are Michigan State, Central Michigan, Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming and San Diego State. "• Blake Clowes (Hilliard, Ohio/Darby) and his teammates are 8-2, but for all the success on the field, Clowes, a 6-2, 265-pound defensive tackle, is still looking for a scholarship offer. "I'm hearing from several programs but Kent State and Ohio University would be the schools that are talking to me the most," he said. "We are talking about dates for an official visit but again, they haven't offered a scholarship. Ball State, Buffalo, Miami (Ohio) and Dayton are other schools that have been contacting me on a regular basis." •
Ben McCord (Warren, Mich./Cousino) is a Ball State commit, but he might still be looking around. "I gave Ball State my verbal commitment in August but I'm still interested in Central Michigan. I'm talking to the coaches at Central Michigan and I might take a visit," said the 6-3, 195-pound wide receiver. "I'm also interested in Michigan. They have been calling me and right now I'm just being patient with everything."• Hazelwood Central is one of the top prep programs in Missouri and has a player coach Rich Nixon feels is being overlooked in
A.J. Chappelle. "A.J. is our best player," Nixon said. "I can't believe he doesn't have an FBS level scholarship offer. A lot of FCS programs have offered but I believe that A.J. can play at a higher level. He plays cornerback for us but I've also lined him up at running back, wide receiver, quarterback in the wildcat offense and he also returns punts and kicks. Sometimes as a coach you wonder what colleges are looking for but I'd tell any coach that walks into my office that A.J. Chappelle wouldn't be a wasted scholarship."
