One of the top prospects to keep an eye on next season in the Land of Lincoln is Perez Ford (Romeoville, Ill./Romeoville). The 6-foot-2, 210-pound outside linebacker is the type of player that coaches love. Whether it's a practice or a game, Ford always has the throttle pulled back as far as it will go. "Perez Ford is legit," said Romeoville coach Jeff Kuna. "He's 210 pounds of pure muscle and is an athlete. He's a solid linebacker but I'll tell you what, the fullback position seems to be making a comeback in the college game and Perez loves to block. I don't see any reason why he wouldn't end up playing fullback or H-Back at the next level. He absolutely pounds outside linebackers with kick-out blocks and when he leads, we get big yards."As an outside linebacker, Perez comes off the edge extremely well but he'll also stick his foot in the ground and set the edge in the running game. He went to a Nike combine and did extremely well. Wisconsin, Colorado and Nebraska seem like they are the most interested parties at this time.Westerkamp visits IllinoisJordan Westerkamp (Lombard, Ill./Montini Catholic), a 6-2, 190-pound wide receiver, already has an offer from Illinois and is hearing from several other top programs. "I've been getting hand-written mail from Arizona, Oregon, Boston College, Alabama, Auburn, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Connecticut, Colorado, Colorado State, Oklahoma, TCU and Nebraska." Westerkamp said. "I went to the Illinois game this past weekend when they played Ohio State and had a really good time. I had the chance to talk to the coaches and a bunch of players. I'm hoping to get back down there for a few more games if my schedule allows." Westerkamp has 700 receiving yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions on the defensive side of the ball.Dever still waiting on first offerAnother junior wide receiver in Illinois that's getting plenty of attention is Bo Dever (Lake Forest, ill./Lake Forest). The 6-2, 195-pounder doesn't have a scholarship offer yet, but he has been invited to several schools for unofficial visits. "I've already been to Iowa, Northwestern and Wisconsin for visits," Dever said. "I liked all three schools, their coaches and players. I didn't have a bad visit yet. UConn, Colorado, Syracuse and Penn State have also been sending hand-written letters and they've also asked if I'd like to come check out a game."
