Class of 2012 prospect Vincent Valentine Jr. (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville), a 6-foot-2, 300-pound defensive tackle, now has 10 scholarship offers. "Wisconsin, Auburn, Illinois, Arkansas, Iowa, Oklahoma, Missouri, Michigan, Kansas and Kansas State have all offered me a scholarship," said Valentine. "I've been to Oklahoma and Wisconsin on unofficial visits this year and liked both schools a lot. I think it's way too early to name any favorites right now. I want to visit the schools that have offered before narrowing things down next summer." Valentine has 20 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble so far this season. Tanner waiting on first offerJunior defensive end Johnny Tanner (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) was everything [Moeller coach] John Rodenberg said he was. In a nationally televised game against Huber Heights (Wayne) earlier this year, Tanner was all over the field and was even used on both sides of the ball. Tanner doesn't have a scholarship offer yet, but schools are starting to make contact. "Schools from the Big Ten, Big East and other schools have been sending hand written letters," said the 6-4, 230-pounder. "I don't have any scholarship offers yet and I'll probably hit a lot of camps this coming spring and summer. I don't have any favorites. I want to play football and if a school thinks enough about me to offer me a scholarship, then they would be a favorite."O'Brien excited by Wolverines offerDanny O'Brien (Flint, Mich./Powers Catholic) will be one of the top defensive tackle prospects in the Midwest next season. He has been offered scholarships by both Michigan and Tennessee. "I've gone to Michigan three times this year," said the 6-2, 295-pounder. "Being a Michigan boy, it's hard not to get excited about a scholarship offer from the Wolverines. Tennessee offered me at their camp and they are at the top of my list as well. The coaches gave my mom and me a full tour of the campus while we were down there during the summer. I'm going to be going to a game at Tennessee a little later this year. I'm also going to Notre Dame for a game this year. Iowa and Ohio state are a few other schools that I like a lot." So far this year, O'Brien has 57 tackles, six sacks, two fumble recoveries and a touchdown.
