DaVaris Daniels (Vernon Hills, Ill./Vernon Hills) has had a whirlwind summer. He scheduled a press conference to announce his college decision only to have a local newspaper print that he was committing to Miami over Notre Dame before the press conference. Daniels, a four-star ESPNU 150 prospect, cancelled the presser and decided to put recruiting on the back burner."That's hard for me to get into," said the 6-foot-2, 175-pound wide receiver. "I just put that all behind me and decided to hang with my friends for the rest of the summer." Vernon Hills opens up next weekend against Niles West and we asked Daniels if a college decision could come before the opener? "I can tell you that I'm looking at Oklahoma, Miami and Notre Dame. I'm definitely looking at one school more than the others right now but I'm not willing to let the cat out of the bag yet. Notre Dame is very much in the picture. There are reports out there that I don't have the grades to get in, but all I need to do is raise my test score a couple of points and I'll get in. I can definitely do that. I'm not sure I'll commit before next week. I think I might take a few visits first and see what happens."
Pittser names his favoritesThings are heating up for Elite 11 quarterback
Adam Pittser (Richmond, Ill./Richmond Burton). "Wisconsin asked me to set up an official visit," said the 6-1, 205-pound gunslinger. "I went up to Madison last week and met with the coaches and I had a great time. I'm No. 2 on their board right now. They are waiting to see what
Jacoby Brissett (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Dwyer) is going to do. UCLA and Washington both told me that I'm high on their board as well. Both of those schools are waiting on the decision of
Brett Hundley (Chandler, Ariz./Chandler) from Arizona. Everything is going great. I've been getting a lot more attention since the Elite 11 and I've had a lot of schools telling me that they are going to be looking at me a lot harder during my senior season. I can say right now that Ball State, Western Michigan, UCLA, Washington and Wisconsin are my favorites. Ball State and Western Michigan have offered. Ball State sends me a letter every day."
Under-the-radar offensive linemanKeep an eye on
Matt Sawickis (Lockport, Ill./Lockport). The 6-5, 300-pounder has seemed to slip through the cracks so to speak because of the incredible amount of talented offensive line talent in the Land of Lincoln. Many schools are waiting on the decision of
Jake Bernstein (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South) and
Jack Allen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central). The schools that miss out on either of these two prospects will likely give Sawickis a look. "I went to a lot of camps during the summer," Sawickis said. "The schools that seem the most interested right now are Eastern Illinois and Ball State. I'm ready for the season to start so I can show everyone that I have what it takes to play football at a high level. I'm completely open right now. I want to play [FBS] football. That's the goal right now. Bowling Green, Western Kentucky, Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois, North Dakota State and Missouri State have also been recruiting me."
