Chase Elliot Hounshell (Mentor, Ohio/Lake Catholic) has plenty of scholarship offers, but the one he really wants could come soon. "I'm at the University of Florida right now on an unofficial visit," said the 6-foot-5, 245-pound defensive end. "Gainesville is really nice. I'm having a great time so far. Tomorrow I'm getting a full tour of the campus. I'm really excited to see everything the Gators have to offer. Florida is definitely one of my favorites now. I love The Swamp. I really want to come back on an official visit and see this place packed. I still don't have a leader and I plan on taking my time in making my decision. Boston College, Iowa and Michigan State are just a few schools that have offered that I'm considering."•
Kenny Knight (Beverly Hills, Mi./Country Day) has his recruitment in a holding pattern. "I'm still looking at several schools," said the 6-4, 190-pound wide receiver. "Cincinnati, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin and a bunch of MAC schools have offered me. Things really picked up for me this summer. Cal and Stanford are very interested in me as well as some other Pac-10 schools. I'm still looking at Michigan and Michigan State. I really don't have a timetable for making my decision. I want to see if any other schools offer me during the season and then I'll take some official visits. If I find the right fit before then, I'll commit."• Rockhurst High School in Kansas City, Mo., has one of the nation's top prep football programs. The Hawklets produce FBS football talent on a yearly basis. One of the top prospects this season for coach Tony Severino is
Michael Rose. The 6-0, 210-pound linebacker ended his recruitment by giving Nebraska his verbal commitment. "I chose Nebraska because of the coaching staff," Rose said. "A close, honest, relationship with the people around me is very important to me. I felt that at Nebraska. The Nebraska coaching staff is the most genuine of all the coaching staffs that I met with during the spring and summer. Nebraska was my only offer but Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Oregon, Iowa and Iowa State were very interested in me. I trust in coach Bo [Pelini] and coach Carl [Pelini]."
