Robert Mincey (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) has a dozen scholarship offers and at a recent unofficial visit had him thinking about a verbal commitment, except for one problem. "I went and visited the University of Cincinnati and loved it," said the 6-foot-5, 260-pound defensive end. "I felt very comfortable with the school, the coaches and the environment. Only problem is that [the Bearcats] haven't offered yet. Cincinnati wants to see senior film but I already have some good scholarship offers. Illinois and Kansas are a couple of the bigger schools that have offered already."•
Ryan Karlin (Kansas City, Mo./Rockhurst) was voted one of the top prospects earlier this spring at the NUC combine in Indianapolis. The 6-1, 220-pound linebacker was active this summer. "I camped with TCU, Kansas, Kansas State and Tulsa," Karlin said. "I don't have a scholarship offer yet but all the schools told me that they liked what they saw from me at camp. Most schools are writing me and saying that they will request film of my senior year and then they'll make a decision on offering a scholarship. I played defensive end last year so there wasn't any linebacker film to evaluate on me. I'm looking forward to showing off my skills this year."• Offensive guard
Tanner Crum (Mount Carmel, Ill./Mount Carmel) was voted most valuable player at the NUC Ultimate 100 combine in Indianapolis a few weeks ago. Crum has a couple of scholarship offers in hand. "Southern Illinois and Eastern Illinois have offered," said the 6-1, 280-pounder. "I camped at Illinois and Indiana in June and I plan on going to the University of Oklahoma on July 25 for the NUC National Ultimate 100 combine. I don't plan on committing anytime soon. I want to wait this thing out and see what happens during the season."• A prospect to keep an eye on in 2010 is going to be offensive guard
Tyson Moore. The 6-3, 285-pounder is the son of
Eric Moore, who is the head coach at perennial Indiana high school power Center Grove High School. Moore didn't get a chance to show his stuff this summer on the camp circuit because of an injured wrist. "I'm keeping in close contact with Ball State and I feel they are close to offering me a scholarship," said Moore. "I'm also in contact quite a bit with coach [Ron] Vanderlinden at Penn State. I'd like to hear more from Indiana than I do. I like Indiana a lot. Coach [Mark] Hagen at Purdue keeps in regular contact with me as well. I'm hoping for big things this season. I'm sure things will work themselves out."
