A lot of folks have been asking me to write about the toughest pitchers to face, but I'm not going to do it, even anonymously. As a hitter, you never want to give those guys credit. I have to believe I can hit them all. And I do. Of course, there are some phenomenal pitchers out there. Take a look at the numbers and you can see who's good. The guys who have the ability to change speeds without changing their bodies have the most success. If a guy with a good off-speed pitch is tough, a guy with a good off-speed pitch whose his arm comes at you hard, is really tough. That's deceptive, seeing one thing fast and the other slow. Good pitchers know how to keep you off balance, to mess with your brain. And yet, I think every pitcher is hittable. In the same way they all think they can strike me out.
