There have been many comments about Daniel and Henrik Sedin as well as Roberto Luongo regarding their ability to bring home a Stanley Cup with the Vancouver Canucks. The fact that they have not won one at this point in their respective careers certainly adds fuel to the argument that they lack something Stanley Cup winners typically have. Do they lack something? A certain mentality? An in-the-clutch instinct?

I heard the same comments about Mario Lemieux and Steve Yzerman. I was with the Dallas Stars when the same questions were being asked about Mike Modano and Ed Belfour. Looking back, it is preposterous that the questions were even raised, but that's the nature of sport. It seems to be the same story for every player -- in any sport -- that there will always be doubt, until it's been removed with the lifting of the trophy, until the player has won the "big one," regardless of what role that player played.
