• You can't really blame the Astros for
wanting to upgrade at catcher. Last year, three guys saw action behind the plate and combined for the worst slugging percentage (.289) in the National League and the second-worst on-base percentage (.281).
Ivan Rodriguez wasn't exactly
good last year, but he was a lot better than
that. The only problem is that one of those Astros who was so awful last year --
J.R. Towles -- might still have a shot at being a pretty good player. But with Pudge around, the Astros might not find out until it's too late.
• Well, now it's official
Lenny Dykstra:

• As Maury Brown reports, for all the grousing about the World Baseball Classic, interest around the world seems to be
way, way up.
• Neil deMause wonders if A's owner Lew Wolff is

• I'm sure
this is the best thing I've ever read about
Albert Pujols. Not that I'm surprised, considering Joe Posnanski wrote it.
• It's really fantastic that Trey Hillman recognizes his Royals
didn't get on base often enough last year. Of course, that's been an organizational issue for years, and the manager talking about it in March probably isn't going to make a great deal of difference.
• David Laurila interviews
yet another of the really bright people working in the game these days. I don't want to discourage anyone out there looking for a job in baseball
but jeez, the competition these days is tough.
• Watch
this scene and tell me Danny DeVito isn't one of our greatest actors.
