NHL: It's the final weekend of the NHL's regular season and teams are still fighting for the final playoff spots and positioning. The Sabres would clinch a playoff berth with a win tonight (7:30 p.m.) against the Flyers, who are still battling for the top seed in the East. ... The Hurricanes are just two points out of the final playoff spot in the East and host the Thrashers at 7:30 p.m.
NBA: There's a full slate of NBA action as we head to the final games of the regular season, with many teams jockeying for critical playoff positioning. Here are a few of the games we're keeping an eye on: In a potential Western Conference first-round playoff preview, the Nuggets visit the Thunder on Friday night (8 p.m.). ABC has a big NBA doubleheader on Sunday with the East-leading Bulls at Orlando (1 p.m.) and Celtics at Heat (3:30 p.m.).
MLB: As we head into the second weekend of baseball, we've got a few more home openers on deck today and a full weekend of games. At 2:05 p.m. today, the Red Sox host the Yankees, still looking for their first win of the season (FOX has Game 2 on Saturday at 1 p.m. and ESPN has the series finale on Sunday night at 8 p.m.). ... At 3:05 p.m. today, Kansas City visits Detroit. ... The Twins open their second season at Target Field against the A's. ... The Mets host the Nationals at 4:10 p.m. ... The San Francisco Giants will raise the 2010 World Series banner at AT&T Park this afternoon before the 4:35 p.m. home opener against the Cardinals.
Men's college hockey: Minnesota Duluth (25-10-6) takes on Michigan (29-10-4) at 7 p.m. (ESPNHD/ESPN3) in the national championship game from St. Paul. It's the Bulldogs' second national title game in school history, just 2 1/2 hours from its Duluth campus. The Wolverines are making their 12th championship appearance and look to follow up their impressive 2-0 shutout of Frozen Four favorite North Dakota with their first NCAA title since 1998.
