Michael Gordon is bouncing back just fine. This senior from Camden (Miss.) Velma Jackson, who missed the spring with an injury, has rushed for 958 yards and 16 scores through six games, almost matching his junior season totals."He pulled a hamstring in the spring and it was really, really bad," Cedrick Wilder said. "He didn't practice and didn't go to any camps. He then went to a Southern Miss camp in June and hurt it again. Basically, no one saw him."Still, teams like Memphis, Houston, UAB and Arkansas State have offered him and Auburn, Mississippi State and LSU are now inquiring."He's very explosive," Wilder said. "Michael is 5-9 and 190 pounds and has a lot of power. He has a 300-plus pound bench and is the state power lifting champ. He can be elusive too. It's a work of magic watching him run because he does some amazing things. He's very aggressive on the inside. We are a spread team that runs a lot of power runs. He's a speed back that loves to run up the middle."They have been calling him "Flash Gordon" over the past few years and it really seems to fit after his fast start."It's like the old cartoon," Wilder said. "For the last three years we have called him Flash Gordon because he's so fast like a flash." Juco receiver visits Tigers
WR Cordarralle Patterson (Hutchinson, Kan./Hutchinson), one of the nation's top junior college prospects, visited Auburn this weekend. "It was good and it was a good game," said the 6-foot-3, 202-pound Patterson. "I feel happy at Auburn. They have really good people there. I feel like I am at home. That was my second visit to Auburn. I took an unofficial visit over the summer. I wanted to get a good look at their offense and see how I can help there. I have a much better feel for the place."Patterson, originally from Rock Hill (S.C.) Northwestern, didn't sign with anyone out of high school and believes his juco experience has been a good."It has," Patterson said. "It's been a real learning experience for me."Patterson will play out his season and make his decision, but he's looking at more than just Auburn. "I want to check out Georgia and Tennessee," Patterson said. "I know I will visit them for sure. I have not set up the visits yet. There are some other schools I am interest in. Right now I am open."Patterson will graduate and sign in December.Bama continues assault in Florida
While Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide don't load up on Florida players, they do annually land a couple high-quality prospects from the Sunshine State. Of the Crimson Tide's 19 current commitments, only three are from Florida but it is an impressive trio in safety Eddie Williams (Pensacola, Fla./Arnold), athlete Chris Black (Jacksonville, Fla./First Coast) and wide receiver Amari Cooper (Miami, Fla./Northwestern). Williams is a five-star and all three are ESPNU 150 members.Cooper is smooth, with great hands, big play capability and will be an outside guy. Black adds a little more versatility, can play in the slot and is a terrific return man. Both are explosive.Running backs Trent Richardson and Dee Hart, defensive ends Ed Stinson and D.J. Pettway, and safety Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix are all from the state of Florida who have signed with the Crimson Tide over the past few seasons.Washington State goes to Louisiana
