It was somewhat of a rough game for four-star defensive lineman Dalvin Tomlinson (McDonough, Ga./Henry County). He played virtually every snap (he plays offensive line as well) and was battling some very good players from Creekside, like defensive end Quinteze Williams and offensive tackle Will Adams. He never really got a break in Henry County's 17-point loss to Sandy Creek on Friday night."That was a very tough loss," Tomlinson said. "I am very tired. When we get a lead I get a break. But not tonight."Tomlinson got off to a slow start, but came on in the second half recording at least five tackles."Yeah, that was not my best game," Tomlinson said. "I was making some mistakes and I think I was playing too high. But they are a good team."Still, despite the off night, Tomlinson believes he has really improved in a lot of areas of his game this season."The big thing for me is that I am reading and recognizing plays quicker, much faster than last season," Tomlinson said. "My footwork is better and so is my conditioning. I use my hands better. I just need to keep working on staying low every play."Tomlinson, one of the top prospects from Georgia who has not yet made his decision, does have a leader and it's one that could make fans in his home state cringe."Alabama is my favorite team," Tomlinson said. "I have been there a few times now and I like the players and coaches. The academics at Alabama look good. I am hoping to make my official visit on November 5th."I also like teams like Stanford, Tennessee, Purdue, Georgia Tech, and Indiana. I am really not sure who else or when I will visit other schools."Tomlinson says Florida, Nebraska, LSU, Wisconsin and Oregon are also recruiting him hard at this point but they have not yet offered.Moody Impressive
McDonough (Ga.) Henry County's Chris Moody (McDonough, Ga./Henry County) showed on Friday night why he's one of the state's most talented athletes. Despite his team's loss to Tyrone (Ga.) Sandy Creek 34-17, Moody showed off his versatility. As a quarterback, he threw the ball well and displayed a live arm. He also showed speed, quickness and toughness with the ball in his hands. Defensively, he played well in the secondary, including a spectacular interception in the second half."They jumped on us early and caught us off guard a little bit," Moody said. "They hit that deep pass and we spotted them an early lead. You can't do that against them."One of the most interesting matchups was Moody vs four-star Auburn commitment JaQuay Williams, one of the state's top receivers."He's pretty good," Moody said. "No. He's real good and he made a few plays. Great players make great plays."Moody is a good one in his own right. He has a handful of scholarship offers and currently likes South Carolina, Mississippi State, Memphis, Purdue, and Middle Tennessee State. He has set up one official visit and that's to Memphis on Oct. 15. The Tigers and MTSU are both recruiting him as a quarterback while the others like him at defensive back."Right now I am open with no leader," Moody said. "I am going to visit Memphis and I have not set up anything else."Vols latest to offer Sandy Creek junior CBTennessee became the latest scholarship offer from 2013 Sandy Creek Watch List cornerback Shaq Wiggins. The Vols offered on Thursday night and join Michigan and Cincinnati who have offered the 5-10, 160-pounder. "Michigan's my leader," Wiggins said. "I really like their style of play and they are a team on the rise. Michigan is putting together a really good class for 2012. I like their defense and they are in the need for cornerbacks. I am going up there for the Ohio State game."In four games this season, Wiggins have five interceptions, including three in one game."I think I play with good technique," Wiggins said. "I have the hips and speed to stick with receivers. Something I want to focus on this off-season is getting bigger and stronger. I also want to keep working on my overall game."Catching up with ELCA
