Four-star athlete Brian Kimbrow (Memphis, Tenn./East) is playing with a big chip on his shoulder this season. He's motivated by where he's ranked, or in his opinion, where he's not ranked, by all the recruiting services. It's Kimbrow's intentions to prove the experts wrong about his current ranking. So far, Kimbrow, a Vanderbilt commit, is making his case.Kimbrow, 5-7 and 165 pounds, is a smaller version of Percy Harvin. He's electric with the ball in his hands. He was brilliant in East's 37-20 win over Memphis Wooddale, rushing for 357 yards and five touchdowns on 32 carries. That was his second 30- plus rushing game of the game. In four games, Kimbrow has rushed for 1,033 yards and 15 scores, leading East to a 4-0 record. He's getting it done between the tackles and on the perimeter. It also helps Kimbrow that he's not playing both ways this season and if obviously fresher on offense. Dawgs better hunker down
Whoa. Georgia is 0-2 and Mark Richt is 6-9 in his last 15 games and has lost 10 of his last 12 games against ranked teams. The Bulldog nation is teetering on the brink of anarchy, which doesn't bode well for recruiting. While Richt is fighting for his job, his rivals in the SEC and abroad will be hitting the Bulldogs at every conceivable angle in the recruiting wars, trying to take advantage of the turmoil at UGA . Bottom line is that recruits love stability in a program and right now there's a big question mark about his future in Athens. Good thing they are only two games in because Richt now has 10 games to turn things around. If you are a Bulldog recruit, you don't know which way is up right now.Jones finally gets his QB
June Jones took over the SMU program in January of 2008 and considering he runs the run-and-shoot, it seemed inevitable that he would land a top QB prospect. After all, what quarterback wouldn't want to play in that system? But it's been tough for Jones so far. Even though Texas has been producing plenty of QBs, none have gone to SMU. So last week Jones went to Georgia and landed arguably standout junior QB Eddie Printz (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter). Printz, 6-4 and 195 pounds, picked SMU over offers from NC State, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Kentucky and others. He celebrated his decision with a monster performance in Friday night's 56-35 win over North Cobb, going 28 for 35 for 396 yards and four touchdowns.Harvey-Clemons has off night
