Class of 2013 linebacker
Trey Johnson (Lawrenceville, Ga./Central Gwinnett) committed to Auburn on Monday. "They main reason is that Auburn is the perfect fit for me," he said. "I got back on Saturday and realized that no one can hold a candle to Auburn. I know that this is the place where I want to be."Johnson, 6-foot-1 and 212 pounds, actually knew much sooner than this past weekend. "I definitely knew after my second trip to Auburn that I wanted to be a Tiger," Johnson said. "But my father wanted me to sleep on it to make sure. Once I make my decision that's it. That's where I am going. So I went for a third time this past weekend. My dad came with me. That was his first visit there. He loved it to. We both feel like this is the perfect fit and I love that I am doing it now and getting it out of the way."There's another strong tie to the Tigers with Johnson. Auburn linebacker coach and defensive coordinator Ted Roof is a Central Gwinnett alumni. That made it an easier recruiting transition for both Johnson and Roof."That helps a lot," Johnson said. "It was a main point because we hit it off so well. Through this process we have built a great relationship and I can't wait to play for him. He will be my position coach and the coordinator. It's obviously something that you never expect but it all worked out this way."Once he does get to Gene Chizik's football program, Johnson believes his style suits the Tigers' defense very well."I can go get the football," Johnson said. "They have those big and fast linemen that tie everything up which allows the linebackers to fly to the football. That's what I do best. I can go out there and make plays for the Tigers."Quarterback
Brice Ramsey (Kingsland, Ga./Camden County), safety
Tray Matthews (Newnan, Ga./Newnan) and linebacker Reuben Roster (LaGrange, Ga./Troup County) are a trio of 2013 recruits from the state of Georgia that have made their decisions already. Ramsey and Matthews have committed to Georgia and Foster is headed to Alabama.Johnson is the second 2013 commitment for the Tigers. Also pledging to Auburn is defensive tackle
Dee Liner (Muscle Shoals, Ala./Muscle Shoals).
