Linebacker
Deion Jones (New Orleans, La./Jesuit) committed on Tuesday to play for Nebraska."My parents love their academics and physical therapy and sports medicine. They are a defensive-minded school and I like that about them, especially being a linebacker," Jones said.Jones, 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, is being recruited to play weakside linebacker for Nebraska. While he loved the Cornhuskers, things almost didn't work out because of the distance."It's about a 12 hour drive and my parents were not too happy about that," Jones said. "But those coaches told my parents that they would take care of me. We have a very close family and that was a big hurdle for all of us. I became close with those coaches, especially coach [Corey] Raymond. He didn't cut any corners and told me how it was and will be."Jones still hasn't been to campus, but plans on going to Nebraska for the first time on September 3 when the Cornhuskers host Chattanooga.Jones, nicknamed Debo, committed to Nebraska over Kansas State, Kansas, Arizona, and Houston."Nebraska is getting a hard worker," Jones said. "I have foot speed, can change direction well and I can be a great leader for the Cornhuskers."His coach, Wayde Keiser, believes Jones will thrive at the next level."He can really run," Keiser said. "Debo plays so well in space. He can really tackle and has excellent athleticism."
