While on an unofficial visit to Virginia last month,
Greyson Lambert (Jesup, Ga./Wayne County) knew what he was going to do, but his parents asked him to wait a few days to see if he still felt the same way about the Cavaliers. He waited and the feeling never left, so he committed to the Cavaliers over the weekend."I really wanted to commit while I was up there," Lambert said. "That was on July 30th. But I waited and committed on Saturday. It was about the coaches. They have been in constant contact with me since the spring, especially over the last month. They are all great men. Coach [Mike] London has a great staff. They know what they are doing and what they are putting together is going to be great. They are doing it the right at UVA. They have a lot of coaching experience, especially at the quarterback position."Lambert really enjoyed his visit to Virginia, especially sitting down with offensive coordinator Bill Lazor."We went over the some plays and terminology. He then quizzed me," he said. "It was a very engaging conversation and meeting."Another big key for the Cavaliers was the school itself. It's one of the top academic institutions in the nation."It's Virginia and it's a great school," Lambert said. "They are always near the top. I met with some professors from the McIntosh School of Commerce, their business school. They are ranked No. 1 or 2 in nation every year. He told me about some of their upcoming projects and that was really cool."The whole school really caught me on my visit."Now Lambert, 6-foot-4 and 208 pounds, can concentrate on his upcoming senior season, where he has big plans for Wayne County High School."We have eight guys back on offense and three really good wide receivers," Lambert said. "We have a chance to do some big things. Our defense is a little young but they are athletic. We have a good chance to make the playoffs and that's the expectation. We have to make the playoffs. It's been about eight or nine years around here. And we have to come out of the gate strong."Then it's off the Virginia for Lambert, where he just wants to go in there and work as hard as he possibly can."I want to come in and do my best," Lambert said. "I want to work my hardest and see where things go from there. I have no expectations. I want to work hard and show them my best."Virginia now has 21 commitments and is ranked No. 22 in the class rankings.
