It was Alabama's turn to make some noise and it doesn't get much louder than this:
Reuben Foster (LaGrange, Ga./Troup County) is headed to play for the Crimson Tide. This elite 2013 linebacker prospect from the Peach State committed to Nick Saban and Alabama on Monday."I love the tradition of Alabama," Foster said. "They are all about tradition and national championships."Foster, 6-foot-1 and 225 pounds, also felt like the chemistry he had built up with the Crimson Tide staff was just too strong."I have a great relationship with Coach [Kirby] Smart," Foster said. "Who wouldn't want to play for the best coach in football and the best defensive coordinator?"When I told them the staff was real fired up. Even Coach Saban seemed excited. He tried not to show it and but I kind of peeked and saw him grinning."As much as relationships played a critical role in Alabama luring one of the very best prospects for next season to Tuscaloosa, they weren't the only factor."They have so much college history," Foster said. "And I can get some early playing time. They like me on the inside."Foster is a ferocious linebacker prospect that is everywhere on the football field. He's just one of those rare, explosive players that can really impact his defense and the game."Foster possesses an excellent blend of size, strength and explosion," said Billy Tucker, ESPN's recruiting coordinator. "He has great short-range burst to the ball filling between the tackles but also the speed to chase plays down sideline to sideline. Foster is a dominant physical presence and one of the better tacklers I have seen at his stage."Charles Flowers has seen what Foster can do up close since he arrived as a freshman at Troup County High School. Foster's head coach knows Alabama is getting one of the best prospects in the class of 2013."Reuben is a tremendous athlete and a very versatile player," Flowers said. "What people don't understand about Reuben is that he's such a hard worker and so dedicated. Reuben Foster is a rare breed and a difference maker. The kid has a real nose for the ball and great instincts. He has stuff you can't coach."So the rich get richer as Alabama already lands its third prospect for the 2013 class. Sure that's almost 18 months away, but for Foster he really doesn't care because now all he wants to do is focus on two things."This is like a dream," Foster said. "I just love it. Thinking about it, going to Alabama, it's just crazy. I had my doubts. I did like Georgia. It was hard to walk away from them. They are the home-state school. But this is what I wanted to do. I am completely done for now. I may take some visits and have some fun but I am going to Alabama. I have got two things on my mind -- getting my grades and going to Alabama."
