Lifelong LSU fan
Derek Edinburgh (New Orleans/Edna Karr) finally got the offer he was hoping for. It didn't take him long to commit to the Tigers and head coach Les Miles."I camped there twice this summer," Edinburgh said. "Coach Miles sat me and my family down and recently offered me a scholarship. I went home and evaluated everything with my parents and coaches. Today, I decided it was in my best interest to commit to LSU."Edinburgh, 6-foot- and 337 pounds, had a ton of options with offers from teams such as Colorado, Mississippi State, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Nebraska, Pittsburgh, Utah and Vanderbilt. In the end, he couldn't pass up on his dream."LSU is the perfect fit for me," Edinburgh said. "That's the bottom line. There wasn't just one thing about LSU. It was everything about LSU. The coaching staff is tremendous and the atmosphere is special. I have a chance to play for my dream team. And it's only about an hour from home. That's great for me, my family and my parents. This is really so exciting."Edinburgh, a three-star prospect and the nation's No. 79 offensive tackle, committed to LSU over Mississippi State, Colorado and others."I could honestly say that I could see myself playing for teams like Mississippi State or Colorado," Edinburgh said. "But I just can't pass up LSU."
