The Gators picked up a four-star safety prospect on Friday from safety
Rhaheim Ledbetter (Shelby, N.C./Crest), who is very excited about his decision to play for the University of Florida."It's the intensity of Florida, the hype of the Gators," Ledbetter said. "I have been watching all their games for some time. It's crazy there. I love that place."Ledbetter is from the same school as former Gator Brandon Spikes, so it was easy for him to root for and watch Florida."Brandon is big in this area and he has always told me great things about the University of Florida," Ledbetter said. "He would talk to me about the program and life in Gainesville."Another big factor for the nation's No. 9 safety is the new Florida coaching staff. Both parties hit it off right off the bat."I took a couple of days off of schools and visited Florida," Ledbetter said. "I visited with coach [Will] Muschamp. I love that guy. I love that coaching staff. They preach football but they also reach academics. I love their personalities too. They are all crazy. I told them I can't wait to get there and I am coming to them soon."Ledbetter, 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds, says he can bring some intensity to the Gator defense."I am a very hard hitter who brings a passion to the game," Ledbetter said. "I have recovery speed and the ability to read. I just want to keep working on my overall speed and get in the weight room. You can never be too fast and too strong, especially in that league. I think I Florida they are going to play me at strong safety. But to me it really doesn't matter."Ledbetter committed to Florida over South Carolina. The Gators now have 14 commitments for their 2012 recruiting class.
