Syracuse picked up its 16th commitment from two-way star Dontez Ford (Mckees Rock, Pa./Sto-Rox)."The main thing with me and my commitment to Syracuse was that Syracuse provides an environment engineering degree and I can play football at a high level," Ford said, who carries a 4.0 grade point average. "Of all the schools I was looking at Syracuse had the most to offer."Another big reason why Ford selected Syracuse over Vanderbilt, Princeton and Northwestern was the Orange coaching staff."I really like the coaching staff at Syracuse," Ford said. "They treated me like an adult from Day 1 and respected me as an adult. They didn't throw the hard recruiting pitch at me. I told them what I was looking for in a college and that's what we talked about. Everything just fell into place. Plus, Syracuse is a school that's far away from home but it's close enough."The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder can play on either side of the ball at receiver or safety."I am a well-rounded player," Ford said. "I will probably play safety at Syracuse. I am versatile enough where I play the pass and tackle well. I make some mistakes out there but I typically play smart with mistakes to the minimum."
