South Carolina picked up a commitment earlier this evening from Dillon (S.C.) High School four-star receiver
Kwinton Smith, who chose the Gamecocks over the Gators."It came down to my close relationship with the coaches at South Carolina," Smith said. "It's also close to home for my family and parents. South Carolina is home to me. "I am really looking forward to playing for them. It's exciting to go play for Steve Spurrier. He's had so much success, especially with the offense. I want to help him bring a national championship to South Carolina."Last season as a junior Smith caught 43 passes for 830 yards and scored 13 touchdowns."I am a receiver that has very good hands," Smith said. "I mean I use them well. I also get separation from defensive backs. I am not the fastest guy but I have quick feet. I use my body well and I am very good in the air."In the end it was a close call for Smith, but distance was the big factor for him when push came to shove."It was a tough decision," Smith said. "The thing that got to me was that South Carolina was so close to home. I feel good now that it's done. I am relieved and ready to get started. I am ready for the SEC competition."Smith, 6-3 and 192 pounds, is South Carolina's 10th commitment for the 2012 recruiting class.
