South Carolina picked up commitment No. 9 with the addition of Kelvin Rainey (Yulee, Fla./Yulee). Rainey, 6-foot-3 and 212 pounds, is the nation's No. 12 ranked tight end prospect. "I came down to the relationships and the one I had with Coach [Steve] Spurrier and Coach [Jay] Graham was awesome," Rainey said. "We have a great understanding on each other. The bottom line is that South Carolina is where I wanted to be."Aside from the relationships Rainey built with the Gamecock staff he's also excited to play in the South Carolina offense."I think I fit in really well with what they do offensively," Rainey said. "They were missing that big play tight end in their offense last season. I think I can be that guy that can make a difference. We run a similar offense in high school so I think I can catch on quick."Last season as a junior Rainey caught 21 passes for 451 yards and scored five touchdowns. Defensively, he played outside linebacker and defensive end where he recorded 77 tackles, four sacks and two interceptions."As a tight end I am very hard to bring down after I catch the football," Rainey said. "I am not the biggest guy in the world but I run hard and I run tough. I can play any position on the field in terms of the tight end. I am versatile with that position."In the end Rainey selected South Carolina over Georgia."It was a pretty tough call and I went back and forth," Rainey said. "But South Carolina has been around since my sophomore year with me. They were one of the first teams to start recruiting me."

Orange land another OL

Syracuse landed its second offensive line prospect in as many days with the commitment of Kyle Knapp (Portage, Mich./Central)."I took the visit to Syracuse back during spring practice and I loved the feel there," Knapp said. "It really is a terrific program. I love the people. When I was there a bunch of former Syracuse players that were currently in the NFL were there. That was cool. They said how much going to Syracuse changed their lives. I know they have a great business school and academics. I am very excited about this decision."Knapp, 6-3 and 270 pounds, says Syracuse is getting a guy that will work his tail off."I think I have a great work ethic," Knapp said. "I am a very hard-working guy in everything I do. I am pretty athletic and I will work hard to be the best I can be. I play tackle now but I will probably play guard at Syracuse. Although I think I can play anywhere on the offensive line."Knapp committed to Syracuse over Cincinnati, Western Michigan and Toledo. The Orange now have a dozen commitments including four offensive line prospects.
