Maryland picked up commitments over the weekend from wide receiver
A.J. Liddell (Douglasville, Ga./Chapel Hill) and athlete
Joseph Riddle (Frederick, Md/Linganore)."They are getting a good player and a talented young man," Chapel Hill head coachChris Parker said. "He's athletic, long and has good balls skills. He's a down-the-field receiver with excellent body control. A.J. has everything you look for in a receiver and lots of upside. At 6-4 and 195 pound, he has plenty of room to grow physically. I think this is a really good fit and I think he can translate that to the next level."In the end Liddell committed to the Terrapins over Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt and UConn. All had offered."Maryland was a place he went to middle school and he obviously lived there," Parker said. "His father is still there. He has a pretty good idea about city and area. So when they became interested in him he became real interested in Maryland." Last season Liddell had close to 50 receptions for 750 yards and eight touchdowns. It was an easy decision for Riddle, who grew up wanting to play for the home-state Terrapins."I went with my heart," Riddle said. "I always wanted to play at Maryland. It's close to home, I love the coaching staff, and the tradition."For Riddle, it came down to Maryland and Cincinnati."Maryland had more of what I wanted," Riddle said. "And I have liked them since I was a little kid."Riddle, 6-2 and 195 pounds, says the Terrapins are recruiting him as an athlete."I can play safety or running back," Riddle said. "It doesn't matter to me. I feel like I can help them and I want to help them win an ACC title."Maryland now has 10 commitments for their 2012 recruiting class. Last season as a junior, Riddle rushed for more than 1,000 yards and 14 touchdowns and averaged about 8 yards per carry.
